Netflix allows you to download movies and shows offline only with the Netflix app for Windows 10 and 11. You cannot download a title from Netflix in a browser. But where is the Netflix download folder?
The streaming service doesn't allow you to browse to the destination from within Netflix where it downloads and saves movie files. Also, Netflix doesn't let you set the location of the Netflix downloads folder on laptops or desktops. You have to use File Explorer to find the Netflix folder. Then, you can manually move the downloads to another location if your drive fills up fast. When you want to watch them again, copy them back to the original place.
The Netflix download folder will be empty if you have never downloaded movies or shows with the Windows 10 or 11 Netflix app. However, once you download something, you'll see a bunch of files here. The largest will belong to the actual media file.
Space becomes a more critical issue on phones. So check out our previous article to find out where Netflix download files are on an Android device and then save space by moving Netflix content to an SD card.
You can watch quite a few Netflix movies and shows while on the go, thanks to the platform's offline-viewing feature. If you're paying for one of Netflix's streaming plans (the new Basic with Ads plan excepted), downloading content to watch at another time is a pretty straightforward process that takes all the pain out of worrying about when you'll be able to connect to Wi-Fi again. We're here to show you how to download movies from Netflix.
The following instructions should work for iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Fire tablet, Chromebook and Chromebox, and Windows 10 devices and computers. Of note: While Windows PC users can download episodes to watch offline, they must use the Netflix app from the Windows Store to do so.
Just how much storage space a download takes up depends on how long the title is and the resolution quality. To give you a sense of the numbers, we went ahead and downloaded the first episode of Taboo and Ryan Reynolds' Netflix movie The Adam Project in both Standard and High resolutions on an iPhone 13 Pro.
If you haven't heard the recent news regarding the launch of Netflix's new Basic with Ads tier, you can check out our post on how much it and all of the other Netflix plans are (spoiler, it's $7 per month). And while it's now the most affordable Netflix plan you can get, you do have to put up with ads being sprinkled throughout the shows and movies you watch. But most importantly, in the context of this post, the ad-supported tier does not allow for downloading for offline viewing.
While manually selecting titles for download is a great feature unto itself, wouldn't it be awesome if Netflix allowed you to download content automatically? Well, you're in luck. Earlier this year, Netflix introduced a new feature for Android users called Downloads For You that uses your Netflix viewing history to curate and download movies and TV shows that are in line with your tastes. It took a while, but the feature is now also available for iOS devices. Here's how to activate it.
Having a library of downloaded movies and shows on your device the next time you find yourself out and about or on the road and without a Wi-Fi connection will make for a much more pleasant and entertaining time-killing situation.
f you already have a Netflix subscription, simply download the Netflix app for Windows, open it and log in to your account. You can execute the application from the Windows start menu or pin it to the taskbar, so that you always have quick access to Netflix. At first glance, the interface of the app is very similar to the desktop and Smart TV versions.
The most important difference is the side menu, from where we can directly access the different categories (series, documentaries, comedies, etc.) and the Downloads section. This is undoubtedly the most interesting feature of the Netflix app for Windows, as it allows you to store the content on your hard disk and watch it online. However, it is worth mentioning that not all titles are available for download, nor can they be played with applications other than Netflix.
We use the provision to move installed apps in Windows 10/11 to change the download location of Netflix. When you move the Netflix app to a different drive using this provision, Netflix saves all downloaded videos to the new location (drive).
Step 3: Click on the Move button and then select the drive where you would like to save the Netflix app and Netflix downloads. Please make sure that the drive you just selected has plenty of free space. Finally, click on the Move button again to move the Netflix app.
I tried the method 2. Netflix was then installed in my E drive. Then I tried to download and I got an error saying that I have downloads on too many devices. I checked my PC and saw that it had now been installed in both the C and E drives. I am stuck
Netflix is a popular streaming service to watch movies, TV shows, anime, and more types of content. From the Netflix app for Windows and smartphones, you can download TV shows and movies to watch them offline.
Many users who use the Netflix app on computers running Windows 10/11 operating systems have the same question, where are Netflix downloads stored on PC? Where is the Netflix download folder saved on your PC?
One of the biggest advantages of streaming apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime is that you can download movies and TV shows for watching offline. So the Windows 10 app for Netflix is no different. Similar to its smartphone counterpart, it lets you download movies, TV shows, and documentaries (see Best War Documentaries on Netflix) with ease. By default, the Netflix app for Windows 10 installs on the C drive of your PC. And if you download plenty of content regularly, then you might run out of storage space soon than you realize.
Netflix does not make its entire library available for download, but much of it is. The easiest way to see which shows and movies are available for download is to tap or click the menu button in the top left and choose Available for Download. For movies and other single-episode items, you'll see a down-arrow button with the word Download when you tap or click on a thumbnail to expand it. For TV episodes, you'll see just the down-arrow button for each episode.
To view all of the shows and movies you have downloaded, click the menu button and chose My Downloads. You'll see all of your downloads and the file size of each show or movie. To delete a show, you can expand a show and click the Downloaded button, which will call up a small pop-up window with a Delete Download button. You can also click the pencil icon in the top right of the main My Downloads view, tap or click to select items to delete, and then tap or click the trash can icon in the top right to delete them.
